Volunteer Opportunities at CRIS Healthy Aging

Thank you for being interested in becoming a volunteer. We are a nonprofit organization that has served East Central Illinois for over 48 years. We promote independence for adults that are age 60 or older. This happens through quite a few services such as: education, health, financial, social, and supportive services. Our goal at CRIS is to promote a healthy, active lifestyle with the intention of avoiding early or unnecessary long-term placement.
CRIS Healthy Aging Volunteer Needs
CRIS Healthy Aging has volunteer opportunities in both Vermilion and Champaign Counties. All volunteers must pass a comprehensive background check, successfully complete general orientation, and onboarding/training for their volunteer role.
Champaign County
Office Volunteers:
Greets and welcomes visitors, assists clients with wayfinding in the building, assists staff with various projects.
Additional Requirements: Age 14+, outgoing personality, wear professional attire, previous office experience helpful.
Vermilion County
Home Delivered Meals Drivers:
Delivers meals to clients’ homes. Tuesdays & Fridays. Mid-morning hours.
Additional Requirements: Age 21+, valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and documentation of current auto insurance. Must be able to read a map and/or utilize GPS navigation. Coolers weigh 25-40 pounds, but assistance is available to load them in your car.
Home Delivered Meals Morning Packers:
Packs meals for delivery to clients’ homes. Tuesdays & Fridays. Early morning hours.
Additional Requirements: Age 21+, Ability to perform physical activity.
Activities Volunteers:
Welcomes clients to center. Assists with BINGO, card games, crafts and general activities calendar. Assists with snacks and beverages.
Requirements: Age 14+, outgoing personality, previous experience with activities helpful.
Nutrition Department Volunteers:
Assists the nutrition team with various tasks in a kitchen/dining setting. Assists clients. Completes basic clerical and documentation tasks.
Requirements: Age 14+, friendly personality, previous experience in a food/nutrition setting helpful.
Tax Preparation Volunteers:
Assists clients with preparing and filing their annual tax returns.
Requirements: Age 21+, ability to utilize tax preparation software, ability to complete specialized training for tax preparation. Previous experience helpful.
